Summer in the city is horrid!
I just walked 5 blocks and I'm partly liquefied. I might just have to give in and catch a cab/bus. Then I'll be able to regale you with tales of how much I hate being stuck in traffic.
It's times like these one [almost] misses residency. Leave for the hospital when it's still dark outside; sleep on the subway/bus. Leave the hospital for home when it's already dark; fall asleep on the train/bus, or while a passenger in your fellow resident's car [and pray really, really hard that the driver manages to stay awake at the wheel long enough not to kill everybody in the car].
The upside: be totally unaffected by weather, since residency is not really conducive to noticing the outdoors.
