Religious Tolerenace

Apropos the recent allegations of anti-Catholic bigotry, I thought we could all use some examples of tolerance from religious people to inspire us, and to serve as shinning beacons of otherworldly wisdom:

One priest threatened that Catholics who vote to ease the law [about abortion] would be excommunicated from the Church while the Bishop of the northern city of Braganca likened abortion to the execution of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

Cardinal Jose da Cruz Policarpo, Portugal's top cleric, included easy access to abortion on a list of worrying social trends he blamed on selfishness.

"As long as everyone does whatever pleases them, the use of sexuality will lead more and more to the disrespect of humanity: family violence, child abuse, AIDS, the use of women as objects, troubled adolescence, abortion," he said in a message aimed at the faithful.

Yeah, that's it. If only religious dogma (or, even better, religious authorities via the State) dictated what everyone does, and how they use their sexuality (what does that even mean?), family violence, child abuse, AIDS, the use of women as objects, troubled adolescence, and abortion will all disappear in a sparkly pink puff of fairy dust.

UPDATE: More tolerance from religious people (via Advice Goddess). If an unmarried woman has sex she does not deserve to be killed (phew!). At the most, she should be flogged.

The priest said folks would be excommunicated from the CATHOLIC Church. So how is this intolerant?

As for the remarks of the Bishop, this is worth noting:
Induced Abortion and Child-Directed Aggression Among Mothers of Maltreated Children
