The South Dakota "Life Protection Litigation" Subfund

The Law Librarian has a very informative post on the legislative history of South Dakota's Women's Health and Human Life Protection Act [don't you just love the communist propaganda template used to name this Bill?].

Here's something I didn't know:

Funding the defense of HB 1215 may come from an unusual source. Litigation expense can easily soar beyond $1 million, well beyond the financial means of the State. A truly ingenious solution to this funding crunch is being sought. Pursuant to recently introduced legislation, a "life protection litigation" subfund would be established under the State's existing extraordinary litigation fund. Private donations could then be deposited into this fund. To quote from the Village Voice, "the well-heeled opponents of abortion are going to hire the public state government to fight their battle."

Brilliant!

you don't understand women in South Dakota. We're Real women, and abortion is for wimps. Real Women go the distance. If a man in SD threatens a woman with "get an abortion or else," she won't help him pack, and she might even shoot him or run him over with her pickup truck.
I know some women who have had abortions. In each case, it was because the bum who fathered the baby didn't want it. Whose choice is this anyway? They should kill the bum and keep the baby! Abortion kills the wrong person.
