Bill Donohue Provides Comedic Relief

Start 2011 with a hearty laugh, courtesy of noted Catholic clown Bill Donohue (emphasis mine):

Sandra Lee is the glamorous, live-in love of Gov. Cuomo - and nobody seems to mind that they're not married.

...

Even outspoken Catholic activist Bill Donohue of the Catholic League passed on a chance to decry what some religious conservatives would deem as "living in sin."

Donohue declined to be interviewed, saying through a spokesman, "We're not one to pass judgment" on how people conduct their personal life "or how people celebrate their religion."

What Is Happening to My Beloved State?

I guess if you live in a place where the mere mention of the word "genitals" prompts the TV news person to issue a warning about offensive statements, it's not all that surprising that the State has the power to charge you with cheating on your husband:

A woman arrested for public lewdness for allegedly having sex in a park is facing a surprising additional charge: cheating on her husband.

No, this wasn't in a Muslim country far away, it is happening in New York.

Suzanne Corona, a 41-year-old woman from Batavia, N.Y., just east of Buffalo, was busted along with 29-year-old Justin Amend last week, police said.

The pair allegedly were having sex on a picnic table near a playground in Farrall Park just after 5 p.m. on Friday, according to WHAM 13.

And speaking of my beloved state, how about my beloved city?

Totalitarian piece of garbage Council Speaker Christine Quinn is supporting that other piece of dreck the Catholic League's Bill Donohue in his bullying of the owners of the Empire State Building.

But wait, there's more! Not to be outdone, an outraged City Council will demand Wednesday that the Empire State Building drop its opposition to honoring Mother Teresa with blue-and-white lights on her 100th birthday.

Because what better use of government power and resources than hassling a private enterprise to honor a poisonous little promoter of pain and pauperdom?

Bill Donahue to the Defense of Sexually Deviant Catholic Priests Everywhere

Has Bill Donahue of the Catholic League ever met a sexually deviant Catholic priest whom he did not support and defend against the tyranny and oppression of sexually abused young boys and their own daughters?

Apparently, not:

ROME — Pope Benedict XVI recently appointed five bishops from as many countries to investigate the Legionaries of Christ, a religious order founded in 1941 by the late Fr. Marcial Maciel Degollado, a Mexican priest who is accused of sexually abusing young seminarians, and who left a grown daughter who was born out-of-wedlock.

...

Harvard Law professor Mary Ann Glendon, the U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican under the last President Bush, scoffed at the abuse allegations Maciel faced before his punishment. So did William Donahue of the Catholic League.

Bill Bennett, the conservative Reagan-era official and CNN contributor, has been a featured speaker at Legion fundraisers. Jeb Bush spoke at a 2007 gathering in Atlanta.

The Legion typically pays its speaker and draws support from commercial sponsors, explained insiders in Rome.

Benedict ordered the new investigation after Legion superiors, hand-picked by Maciel, disclosed to followers in February that he had a daughter. In the Spanish press and on websites she has been identified as 23 and living with her mother in Madrid. The question of financial support for his daughter and her mother and how long Legion officials have known about it is a question of the inquiry.

Baltimore Archbishop Edwin O’Brien, not one of the visitators, banned the Legion and Regnum Christi from his archdiocese, all but calling them a cult.

Denver Archbishop Charles Chaput is the American visitator in the case. Earlier this summer Chaput and four other bishops were given a dossier of findings on Maciel at the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, which Ratzinger as cardinal directed for years.

Starting in 2004, at least 30 witnesses testified to Msgr. Charles Scicluna, the C.D.F. investigator, that Maciel abused them as youths. But the 2006 Vatican order punishing Maciel failed to specify what exactly he had done, nor did it acknowledge the victims.

Religious Morals 101: How to Deal With Children and Adults

If you're an Irish Catholic priest, a nun, or Bill Donohue kicking, kissing, ogling, and raping 11.99% of the miscreants children under your care are minor instances of abuse.

If you're a Serbian Orthodox Christian you use a shovel to rehab junkies drug addicts.

But what do you do if you're an Israeli rabbi and you think children are possessed by the devil unpure?

Apparently, you hit kids in the head with a hammer, among other things:

BRASILIA, Brazil – The Brazilian government can extradite a fugitive rabbi to Israel where he is accused of burning and cutting toddlers as part of a purification ritual, the Supreme Court said Friday.

...

The Court found there was cause for Hen to stand trial for allegedly subjecting eight children to "intense physical and mental suffering because they were supposedly possessed by the devil."

...

Hen, who allegedly acted with four other people, was arrested in Brazil in June 2008 after a 45-day manhunt. Police did not say how or when he and his family arrived in the country.

The rabbi allegedly hit the children in the head and face and burned their hands, the court said. One child sustained permanent brain damage and is in a vegetative state.

Bottom line: How you people fail to see the benefits of a theocracy is beyond me.
